| Description: A chronograph is a useful and interesting piece of equipment for testing ammunition as well as just having fun. To know the speed of the bullet coming out of the barrel allows a shooter to better calculate the trajectory (bullet drop) of their loads. A chronograph is also useful to check that each load is uniform which is of paramount importance to competitive shooters and those who shoot long distances while hunting. The F1 Shooting Chrony is a simple and inexpensive choice for those looking to buy a chronograph. I have used the F-1 Shooting Chrony to measure the velocity of everything from .22's to muzzleloaders to magnum center fire rifles. The F1 Shooting Chrony can be mounted onto a standard tripod or placed on a table or other stable platform. The chronograph comes with wire framed shades that indicate where to aim over the chronograph. The chronograph can be used without the shades, but this seems to increase the rate of errors. With the shades in place I have gotten very few errors while shooting probably two or three hundred rounds over the F1. Replacement shades are available as from time to time they may become shot. I have yet to shoot mine but the time will probably come! The safest way to shoot through the chronograph is off of a sandbag or other steady rest to avoid shooting the shades or worse yet shooting the chronograph. If set up properly you can shoot through the F-1 Shooting Chrony and at a target at the same time. The F-1 Shooting Chrony has a large display that is easy to read in most light conditions.
