This is a good condition side plate pocket revolver made by the Bacon Manufacturing Company of Norwich Connecticut. Bacon pocket revolvers were made from around 1857 to 1867.
This single action open frame .31 calibre pocket has a 4 inch round sighted barrel with a five shot semi fluted cylinder.
The barrel marking ‘BACON MFG. CO. NORWICH CONN.’ is rubbed and now only faintly visible. The serial number 1499 is found on the barrel, loading leaver and loading leaver catch.
On a whole this pocket is in a good used but not abused condition with some original finish remaining. The cylinder is a bit loose but locks up tight when cocked.
These Bacon revolvers bear a close resemblance to the Manhattans, probably because Mr Bacon is said to have left the employ of Manhattan to start his onw business with a new pocket revolver design.
Price includes insurance and postage in Australia. Lay Buy available.
