Recently imported from the US & offered for sale is this fully matching numbered Imperial Japanese Arisaka Type 99 chambered in 7.7mm Jap.

We all know it is practically unheard of for a WW2 Japanese Type 99 to be available in this condition with matching numbers, but we have this available now at the shop.

Available records indicate this was made by the Imperial Military Nagoya Arsenal as part of the 7th Series. The Nagoya Arsenal was a Japanese state-owned combine of five military industrial facilities located in the various wards of the city of Nagoya. This matching numbered rifle has all the hallmarks of being a battlefield capture war trophy, having been taken home after the war by a US GI.

All visible numbers match including receiver, complete bolt & bayonet lug plus it retains the original cleaning rod.

Despite being a Series 7 rifle, uniquely, it has the late war bolt handle & a mid-late war safety. The whole bolt assembly is correctly numbered 665, so we can only assume this was replaced at some time later in the war but done correctly at the arsenal with a new bolt & numbered to match the rifle, indicating it was done before things got desperate to the Japanese. This is not a 'Last Ditch' rifle & not some rusted out, pitted example usually available to Aussie collectors.

In excellent overall condition, the Emperors'  Chrysanthemum (MUM) remains intact, which usually indicates a battlefield captured rifle as all surrendered Japanese rifles had the MUM either ground, scrubbed or somehow defaced at the time of the Japanese surrender.

Bore is excellent, shiny with clear visible rifling & on par with the condition as seen on the rest of the rifle. We have had this apart & the metal under the wood is excellent, almost as issued!

This is one for the serious collector who knows what they want.

These don't come along often so don't let this get away!

The photos are of the actual rifle so as usual, please view the photos carefully as these form the main description & override all others.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis.

As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
