Selling on consignment for a collector and in lovely condition for its age this highly sought after George Gibbs .256 (GIBBS FLANGED) FARQUHARSON FALLING-BLOCK SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 18453, with frame number 914 and 26in nitro proofed barrel engraved 'GEORGE GIBBS CORN STREET BRISTOL', ramp -mounted leaf sights with silver-inlaid sight lines, Front ramp -mounted bead fore-sight, fine acanthus scroll engraving, the left side marked 'GEORGE GIBBS BRISTOL, bolted side safety, top tang tapped for a rear sight (removed, not present), 14 1/4in. well-figured pistol grip stock with engraved steel pistol grip-cap (with trap) and chequered steel but plate, weight 6lb. 4oz. Seldom seen for sale in this country this unique vintage quality rifle would complement any collection and be the envy of many shooters, collectors or anyone that appreciates fine firearms with the bore still retaining strong rifling. Sold as is with no trade ins or lay buys offered on this rifle and please no picture shoppers. A rifle that’s very difficult to put a price on, in this day and age of mass production and I doubt you could even replace this unique historical firearm with the owner seeking genuine expressions of interest.
