This is a 100% Original fully matching regiment marked 1916 DWM Luger with its original matching holster. The Luger presents in good condition considering it is over 100 years old, the entire pistol is matching except the magazine which is quite common and is accompanied by it’s matching original holster with has the original take down tool (which itself is in very good condition).
The bluing is worn in places however everything functions as intended and has a smooth action; the barrel is a bit worn however still has a good amount of life left. The magazine does have a chip and it is unknown whether this was period damage or done at a later point.
On the handle it is marked “Bay. 21 J.R.M.G”, research shows, this particular Luger belonged to a machine gun regiment officer/soldier of the 11th Bavarian infantry division.
The division most famously fought in Poland, on the Russian front , the Serbian campaign, and in France in the battle of Verdun and the battle of Flanders fields where this was likely acquired of a dead soldier or prisoner by a Australian ANZAC soldier and brought home as a nice war trophy.
All in all pieces like these come up very rarely and is quite historically significant and should really be in a museum. This would make an excellent addition to your Luger or WW1 collection or any collection for that matter.
