.577 Snider cal.; 36" round barrel with fine bore, bright & with crisp rifling; original blued finish to barrel has developed a slight brown patina, thinning slightly on top of barrel, some light oxidation; lock & breech retain vivid case colours, some minor oxidation staining; bright mellow finish to brass furniture; H. HOLLAND/ 98 NEW BOND ST. marked to top of barrel, BRAENDLIN-ALBINI/ PATENT/ No 2610 marked to top of breech; London V & P proofs to lhs breech, & breech; mechanically v. strong action locks up tight, strong springs & sears; 5-8 graduated rear sight, with the spring retaining much of its nitre bluing; incorrect ramrod; woodwork in unrestored condition, some surface handling marks & bruising but retaining its original finish & crisp markings incl. the Braendlin crossed flag trademark in front of lock nose; brass buttplate marked with crown/ S A/ 1 2 9; overall in exc. wo & vg. original cond. #2910 N/L An unusually nice example of a scarce rifle.
