Large Mediterranean Flintlock Holster Pistol c1800

A large, holster pistol intended for the Mediterranean market made before 1800. The style suggests, an unknown, mid 1700s European maker. The .67 caliber, round, two stage, smoothbore barrel measures 12 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring 18 inches. The barrel has a rough engraving of a crescent moon suggesting an Ottoman or Islamic connection. The lock is engraved with what appears to be Arabic script. The lock seems to have been made with only one click. That is, it will fire from what is usually called half cock. There is no second or full cock. The cast brass furniture shows no distinct images or form but is in good condition. The walnut stock shows some cracking but is in a solid condition. The rammer is only for show as the correct rammers were carried on the rider’s belt. Sold as a collector item only. Price includes shipping in Australia, layby available.
