A Brace of Mass Arms Co Maynard Primed Pockets

Offered here is a brace of the Maynard Tape Primed pocket revolvers made by the Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls between 1851 to 1860. The design of these, six shot revolvers was a direct result of Samuel Colt winning a patent infringement case against the company in 1851. Both revolvers are .28 caliber. One revolver has the earlier hand revolved cylinder, while the other has an automatically revolving cylinder. Both revolvers are marked ‘MASS. ARMS CO / CHICOPEE FALLS’ on the top strap and ‘MAYNARD’S PATENT / SEPT. 22 1845’ on the primer door. The hand, revolved pistol has a 2 ½ inch octagonal barrel and measures 6 inch overall. Depressing the button inside the trigger guard allows you to turn the cylinder. This revolver has a serial number of ‘30’ on the frame and a state-based registration number of ‘003165’ on the butt. Both the primer action and the firing mechanism are in working order. The automatically, revolved cylinder, model has a 3 inch barrel and measures 7 inches overall. The cylinder is advanced by pulling the trigger. The primer action, cylinder advance and firing mechanisms are in working order.
