LOT.111 EXCEPTIONALLY RARE STOCKED PERCUSSION D/B HOWDAH PISTOL: .69 CAL; 11.6" smoothbore browned Damascus twist barrels; browning presents in original condition with scattered handling and storage marks; captive ramrod; bores present in very good condition for the age of the pistol with some scattered patches of frosting and scale free from pits & bulges; barrels engraved T. MURCOTT 68 HAYMARKET STREET LONDON; back action locks with border engraving and scroll engraving to lock plates, locks signed T. MURCOTT; dolphin style hammers with scroll engraving, one hammer elongated to allow bottom barrel to be fired; bolted safety; London proof marks to outside of barrels; saw hand pistol grip with steel grip gap: sprung grip gap for storage; double triggers; lightly engraved trigger guard which sits slightly proud in the wood on the right hand side; detachable stock with press release system, rear of pistol grip has a reinforced cutout to accommodate the stock, historic repair a small crack in the rhs of grip, roughly recheckered at the repair approx apex of grip, original checkering remains on 90% of grip, blued smooth steel buttplate on stock with elongated engraved inletting to mirror elongated top tang extension on stock; with stock attached measures approx, 13 1/3 LOP; pistol was owned by the Nizam of Hyderabad and was in India until 1973 and bares an Andhra Pradesh Government mark (APX_13_EX_73) whereupon it was exported to London in 1974 in the care of Holland & Holland with the rest of the Nizam's collection to be sold; pistol was purchased by Peter Frampton who bought it out to Australia and sold to current owner's family in 1995; pistol comes with documentation about Frampton and some historic photographs; pistol dates from the 1840s; SN#283; Licence Required.
