This secondhand Mauser 98 Simson Suhl 8x57mm Rifle is in a Good overall used condition for its age. May have some cosmetic usage imperfections. Comes with a leather Sling and the barrel has its Lid in the muzzle end.
Simson Suhl made the Gew.98 1915-1918 and then continued postwar with the Kar.98b (which is basically just a modified Gew.98
There is a good reason the Mauser 98 is so well regarded. The action is smooth, and the rifle generally handles very well. The Gewehr 98 is, of course, rather long, with the lange vizier sights indeed somewhat obstructive. The pronounced gasping grooves and semi-pistol grip on the stock only add to the pleaseant experience of firing this rifle, which has proven to be quite acceptable in the accuracy department as well. All in all the Gewehr 98 is a solid weapon in the context of the First World War, and remains both a fascinating collectible and a fun rifle to shoot to this day.
