This Straight Sighting L1A1 scope was originally No 32 MK3 Sniper Scope. In the 1970's these were chosen to be converted by Cooke Troughton and Simms to change the sealing and the range from yards to metres, specifally for the use of 7.62Nato ammunition in the L42A1 Sniper rifle.
It has the correct bracket (with sequential numbers but no rifle number) and it’s fitted in a WW2 No. 8 Mk 1 rounded end, metal case made by B.E. Ltd (Berry’s Electric Co.) with a 1945 dated, ‘44 Pattern webbing carry strap. (After the war these were preferred to the leather ones).
The scope has very clear optics and appears to be in good+ condition but as we have made no attempt to alter the drum settings, Note: adjustments are made with the tip of a 7.62mm round as this scope does not require the special tool issued for the No. 32 Mk 1 and Mk 2 telescopes.
