Made by Howa in Japan specifically for the Australian market the CMC Mountaineer was made for the Commercial Marketing Company hence the CMC on the action. They had import connections to a company in the Oberon area of NSW hence the reference to Oberon on the action also.
Howa rifles are known to be excellent quality rifles & this is essentially identical, other than the wood Monte Carlo stock.
In great but not perfect condition & chambered in 22-250 with an internal magazine, this would make a great hunter or farm gun for varmint control.
This comes with a clear Tasco 3-9×40 scope mounted on Hilver style base & rings.
If you want old school you won’t go past this…wood, blued & the fast, flat 22-250 cartridge which is ideal for taking care of wild dogs who are just too far away for a .223!
