For sale, on consignment, an original bolt action sporting “Big Game Rifle” by Andrews Firearms – London SE11 chambered in the legendary 404 Jeffery.
This rifle remains in very good original, well used condition. The action, bore and chamber are very nice condition, bright and shiny with sharp rifling.
Constructed on the extra strong M17 Enfield action and styled in the classic English configuration. The bolt action is smooth and feeds and ejects flawlessly. Fixed four round magazine.
Original Military stock nicely figured walnut with good chequer - possibly sporterised with original recoil pad still in place although quite hard.
The sights are one standing, two folding and ladder sight to 1200 yards! The foresight mounted on a nice ramp has a strong square foresight blade. There is an aperture sight nicely fitted to the action, possibly later, for fast sighting acquisition.
The rifle is in original, un-refurbished, good working & usable condition and we understand shoots accurately.
Andrews Firearms and Accessories was located at 131 Kennington Park Road, London, SE11 from 1919 - 1937 before relocating to 304 Kennington Road until 1940 when it ceased trading in 1940. Andrews Firearms is thought to be the successor of CW Andrews Ltd - [Gun and Rifle Makers] which traded from 1882 - 1917 in London before relocating manufacturing to Birmingham in 1891.
