This serious big game rifle is fitted with a Kahles of Austria Helia S 4 x 32 scope on Griffin & Howe of New York Quick Detachable side mounts.
Chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum - a belted, straight-taper cased, Big Five game rifle cartridge.
The .458 Winchester Magnum was introduced commercially in 1956 by Winchester and is commercially available as it remains one of the most popular large, dangerous game cartridges.

61 cm or 24” gloss blued steel barrel with barrel band sling swivel
Ramped blade bead foresight and one standing and two folding leafs
Barrel band with sling swivel appears to be a Griffin & Howe modification
Stock
One piece straight grained European walnut stock with horn forend tip and pistol grip and right-hand cheek piece. Steel trap to grip. Unsigned gold escutcheon. Crisp chequer. Probably re-stocked.
Length of Pull: About 13 5/8” to centre including recoil pad
Overall Length: About 112 cm or 44”
Overall Weight: About 5 kg or 10 lb 6 oz
This rifle presents in very good, well-maintained condition.
The finish on the metal and wood work is very good – with cosmetic handling/storage marks commensurate with age.
Crisp trigger. Clean, bright bore with sharp rifling. Bright, clean bolt face. Super smooth bolt action feeds and ejects flawlessly.
