This Enfield Military .303B rifle was in the first production at Enfield. Dated 1907, it is a Enfield Sht LE 111. These were sent to Australia and this one was taken by the South Australian Government and stamped SA with a SA number 1832 over and above the original Serial number 7009A on the action. In the course of its life it has had a bolt change, while the forewood is original the butt was changed but is only 18 numbers different. The bolt and the muzzle cap for bayonet attachment have the same number 9897. We will never know if the troops at the time mixed the parts during disassembly procedure. Both the woodwork and the metalwork are in excellent condition. This rifle has the original Volley sights and adjustable rear windage sights.
