Offered here is a fine, double barrel, flintlock pistol from the renowned Liege gunmaker, Michel Berleur. Berleur was active in ‘Vinâve d' Ile’, Liege from 1780 to 1815. Michel’s younger brother, Guillaume, continued the business there until 1840.
The round, .53 calibre, smoothbore barrels measure 7 ¼ inches with the whole pistol measuring 12 ½ inches. ‘M BERLEUR’ is clearly visible on the centre rib forward of the engraved barrel tang.
The plain unadorned, flat locks with gold touch holes are both engraved ‘M BERLEUR’. Both locks are in working order.
The rammer pipes, trigger guard and butt cap are all tastefully engraved. The trigger guard also features a stand in hunting hound.
The empire style, full length walnut stock features a carved spine decorative silver pins along the grip. See photos.
Overall a very good example of the early 19th century Belgium gunmaker’s craft.
Sold as a collector item only.
Due to the price of this item special delivery arrangements will have to be made. Layby available.

About Us
Antique guns for sale in Australia
Steel & Shot, authentic antique arms, takes pleasure in filling a special niche for the antique arms collectors of Australia. Depending on availability our offerings are sourced locally and overseas. They range from before the time of Cook’s voyages up to the Kelly era with items to suit the beginner through to the investor.
As a hobby business Steel & Shot has grown out of a love and fascination [my long suffering wife would say ”obsession”] with antique arms. I am fascinated by the technical innovation and development, along with the history and artistry of these objects and artefacts.
If any of these items are of interest, or you just want to chat about antique arms, drop us a line or two via the contact page.
